The investors make 50% profit and can use their investment as a tax deduction, since our government recognizes the value in independent cinema. Years ago, investors made money only from the box office. Now there are 23 additional means of profit, due to modern technology. Residuals and royalties continue to come to investors long after the film has completed it's theatrical run.
 
Ancillary Markets
 
Many years ago, profits depended solely onthe theatre box office. Now we have 23 ancillary markets, which tremendously increase the return of monies to the investors. "Gone With The Wind" was produced over 70 years ago and still sends checks to investors and their families. "Wise Guys" was shot for 7 million dollars and earned 280 million in video cassettes alone. "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" was shot for 6 million dollars and made over 300 million dollars - and spun a TV series.

When the film is completed and distributed and all expenses are paid, every dollar received for the film will be returned to the investors until the entire financing is recouped. All additional profits are divided equally (50%) between the producers and investors. Usually it takes 1 year after completion of the film to start receiving profits and money will continue in perpetuity withthe ancillary markets (listed above).
 
Residuals and royalties are sent to the investors and producers whenever anything emanating from the movie is sold or marketed anywhere in the world. This includes profits from all the ancillary markets itemized.
